Summary
My four decades of a variety of teaching on three continents and four countries has given me valuable understanding of how students best learn when their individual differences and methods of learning are considered. My varied travels/sojourns/experiences and challenges have enabled me to become more tolerant of people and gained valuable insight as how best to motivate non- homogeneous students of all cultures and abilities.

My philosophy is that all youngsters have the capacity to learn;; that they come with varying experiences from which we can all learn together. As an adult, I merely have had the opportunity for a wider variety of experiences, yet often very different from my students. My aim is for each of them to believe they have the capacity to learn, that we can all learn together and that they are all gifted. As their teacher, it is my responsibility to find the optimum way to assist each student to maximise this, to help find their passion. My premise has always been “head and heart together”. Listen, then evaluate, via thinking, through any issue.

Thus, my aim is to inculcate the need for students to utilise their thought processes enabling them to think what they need to learn to move forward and then apply what they have learned via a thorough holistic understanding to enable them know themselves. For those youngsters in my care it is important that they believe in themselves by listening to themselves, to evaluate how they learn in order to enable them to think and adapt to any given situation. It is my role as a facilitator, to assist students to evaluate this. I wish for them to have the ability to utilise their thought processes in their unique learning style, understanding that their peers will resolve an identical problem differently. Pooling both methodology and knowledge is also what I advocate for this to reach full individual fruition. Collaboration with co-operation must result in a better product for all?
