Information about Naomi

I am an experienced Early Childhood educator with a passion for helping young children build strong foundations for learning. Originally from South Africa, I have lived and worked internationally for many years, including in the UK, Australia, Thailand, and Taiwan, before settling in New Zealand three years ago.

As both a teacher and a mother of three children, I understand how important it is for young learners to feel confident, supported, and engaged. My approach is warm, patient, and play-based, helping children develop early literacy, numeracy, and confidence in a way that feels natural and enjoyable.

I particularly enjoy working with children in the early years and supporting them as they prepare for a smooth and positive transition into school.

Experience: I am a qualified Early Childhood educator with over 26 years of experience working with children from birth to five years of age.

For 23 years I taught Mathematics and Literacy to children aged 3–5 in international schools in Asia, supporting early reading, writing, and numeracy development through engaging and play-based learning experiences.

For the past three years I have been working in New Zealand in an under-2s room at an Early Childhood Education centre, supporting infants and toddlers during their earliest developmental stages and helping build strong foundations for learning.

My teaching focuses on:

Early literacy foundations (phonemic awareness, letter recognition, vocabulary)

Early mathematics (number sense, counting, patterns, and problem solving)

Fine motor development and pre-writing skills

Building confidence, independence, and a love of learning

I tailor my sessions to each child’s developmental stage and aim to create a calm, positive learning environment where children feel supported and encouraged.
